Acupuncture

How It Works

"Acupuncture points are believed to stimulate the central nervous system. This, in turn, releases chemicals into the muscles, spinal cord, and brain. These biochemical changes may stimulate the body's natural healing abilities and promote physical and emotional well-being." HopkinsMedicine.org

"Traditional Chinese medicine explains acupuncture as a technique for balancing the flow of energy or life force — known as chi or qi (chee) — believed to flow through pathways (meridians) in your body. By inserting needles into specific points along these meridians, acupuncture practitioners believe that your energy flow will re-balance." Mayoclinic.com

My Personal Story With Acupuncture

When I first started seeing Rick for acupuncture I was pretty nervous and I wasn't sure about the whole sticking 20 needles in me thing.  I have a pretty high pain tolerance, but you're going to stick a bunch of needles in me and I'm going to feel better?!  I'm not so sure about that...
Well guess what?
Not only did I barely notice the 20+ needles Rick put in me at my first session, I actually became really relaxed, and fell asleep.  Rick informed me this is actually normal.  A lot of people feel really calm when they do acupuncture.  I also felt a warm flow of energy that was really enjoyable.  When I got home, I felt calmly more productive that day.  I even felt really productive the next day as well.  I slept better that night, and the several nights following.  It only took one session for me to believe in the benefits of acupuncture.  It will now be a life long healing modality for my body, mind and spirit.
